Horticulture industry is the second largest industry in terms of size in the rural industry involved in production in Australia. The industry gives many valuable produces such as wheat, fruits and various nuts that are consumed on a daily basis by everyone. The sector also contributes largely towards production of various food crops and employs a number of people thus becoming an important service sector as well. The service sector part of it deals with ornamental purpose plants or the ones for recreational purposes.

To make a career in Horticulture, you can go for a certification that will prepare you for various professions involved in this field such as Plant Pathologist, Nursery Worker, and Plant care Worker, a Horticulture Consultant and many others. In the course you will be acquainted with the many challenges that will be faced by you in the field and how to overcome them. Also technical education is provided for plants and how to do research work as well.

Horticulture Consultant:

This is one of the most hot jobs right now as it not only provides you work currently but also gives you an opportunity to keep learning and many people who have worked in this field are known to have gone for research work later on. As a Horticulture Consultant your main function is to see how the crops are used even as common as a grass such that optimization can be done and how the same can be beautified as well. Also you will be responsible to make sure of higher yield and thus make the activity financially profitable.

Plant Pathologist:

Start at this and move up the ladder very quickly. What a Plant Pathologist has to do is to see the health of the plants and provide required ailment. Technical training is required for this but you also get to work in a laboratory and the role is basically that of a scientist. A typical day in start will look like injecting plants with pathogens and then recording the observations.

Nursery Worker:

This is for those who want to start something on their own and want to start from scratch. You can choose between nursery worker and plant care worker. The latter is in a more regulated environment and there is more job stability.

So there are many options to choose from. Everything aside, the work is great and on the plus side you get to do your bit for the environment.
