Australian Scholarship opens for Nepalese Students

Australia government opens scholarships for Nepalese students to study in Australia covers living expenses, overseas student health cover as well as all tuition fees and returning airfare. The 2018 series of ‘Australia Awards’ open to student from Nepal as well as other South and West Asian countries.

Australian government funded scholarship award offers students fellowships and scholarships to undertake formal education, research and professional development in Australia. As a prestigious international award ‘Australia Awards’ is an initiative to the next generation of global leaders for development.
In Nepal, Australia’s international development assistance aims to alleviate poverty and support human development with a focus on education, governance and micro-entrepreneurship development. The major part of the Australian assistance is delivered through the Government of Nepal as well as in partnership with other donors and multilateral organizations functioning locally.

Australia Awards Scholarships are offered for the minimum period necessary for the individual to complete the academic program specified by the Australian education institution, including any preparatory training.

For this scholarship opportunity, applicants will be assessed based on their professional, personal qualities, academic competence as well as importantly for their potential to impact on development challenges in Nepal. Australian Government, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade encourage applications from eligible women, people with disability and people from traditionally marginalized groups and remote regions of Nepal. ‘Australia Awards’ handbook has clearly mentioned at least 50 percent of the awards will be given to qualified women applicants.
The language requirements for the Australia Awards is an IELTS (Academic) score average of 6.5 or above (with no individual band less than 6.0) or a paper based TOEFL overall score of at least 580, with a minimum of 4.5 in the test of written English, or an Internet-based TOEFL score of at least 92, with a minimum of 21 in all subtests, or PTE Academic overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50.[ads2]

Australia Awards Scholarships Benefits

Australia Awards Scholarships are offered for the minimum period necessary for the individual to complete the academic program specified by the Australian education institution, including any preparatory training. Scholarship recipients will generally receive the following:

  • Return air travel
  • A one-off establishment allowance on arrival
  • Full tuition fees
  • Contribution to living expenses
  • Introductory academic program
  • Overseas Student Health Cover for the duration of the Scholarship
  •  Supplementary academic support
  • Fieldwork allowance – for research students and masters by coursework which has a compulsory fieldwork component.
