  •  Search and just search. Before settling on the price of any new or old car, search online, visit automobile stores and know about the lowest possible price.
  • Check the car condition properly if you are buying a used one. If you are new seek help from friends and relatives who knows more about cars and buying. Check if it is having regular servicing, repairs, and maintenance. Ask the seller if it was involved in any accident?

Always try for a lowest possible price but don’t consider in condition.
  •  Have a test drive or get it examined by a qualified mechanic. Have everything checked under the hood, odometer alteration, underneath the car, the body of the car, inside the car and during the test driving of the car. These are the things that must go through inspection before buying a used car. Because once you buy it, there is nothing you can do it and you will also not get any kind of warranty as such.
  • To know if the car owes money as debt, do a personal property securities register check, which also includes a PPSR certificate. This can be done at the cost of a small amount of money. This will save your car from being taken away on account of undisclosed debts. The seller might present his own PPSR certificate. But do not depend on him. Get your own. You can have PPSR check simply after submitting a vehicle identification number and manufacturer’s number. After getting these numbers to match them with the car’s registration papers. You can do a PPSR check online at www.ppsr.gov.au or call 1300007777.

If it’s the first, better go for used or second hand first; learn properly and get a full license first. You are not going to use the same for the whole life.
  • After you have bought it, register it at Roads and Maritime services within 14 days. The documents necessary for the registration are receipt of the purchase, passport/photoID and driver’s license with duty and transfer fee.
  • You will not be able to drive on the road unless it is registered. Meanwhile, for 28 days you can get an unregistered vehicle permit from Roads and Maritime Services.
  • Regarding insurance, you can get two types of insurances in Australia for your vehicle. One is third party property insurance and the other is comprehensive insurance. Third-party insurance is a must otherwise, it will rip you off if you do any damage to someone else’s property. Comprehensive insurance covers the cost of damage done to your vehicle during an accident.
