Nepalese living in another New South Wales regional town Queanbeyan formed a formal community organization ‘Nepalese Society Queanbeyan’. With the growing Nepalese population in the regional town close to the National capital Canberra, members of the community felt the need for communal effort to network Nepalese living around, president of the newly formed organization Deepak Pandey told NepaliPage.

Queanbeyan living Nepalese has chosen Kedar Chapagain and Suresh Amgain as vice president. The society has General Secretary Ram Khadka, Secretary Rajendra Chapagain, Joint Secretary Choleshwor Tiwari, Treasurer Umesh Nepal, and Co-Treasurer Bishnu Kandel. Further, Sumin Kumar Bhattarai, Vishal Thapa, Prakash Bhattarai, Pushkar Kafle, Hemant Kumar Shrestha, Mahesh Thapa Magar, Sharad Pokhrel, Riwaj Baral, and Amir Acharya have been selected as members.
Nepalese Society Queanbeyan would focus on networking Nepalese living in Queanbeyan, organize sports activities including football and cricket, Nepalese cultural and communal activities as well as help members in the community in need president Deepak Pandey told.
After the Australian government shift its focus on regional migration many Nepalese international students and temporary visa holders moved into regional NSW and other states from NSW. Living and working in regional Australia would help international students to get state nominations for some kind of skilled visas.
