A 25-year-old lady working in an aged care facility in Sydney’s Northwest as a nursing assistant was arrested and charged for allegedly slapping an elderly resident. Officers from Ryde Police Area Command arrested her from Homebush following an investigation of a report of elderly abuse in an aged care facility in Epping.

NSW Police states in its statement, on 26 March 2022, police received a complaint that two of residents in the aged care allegedly been assaulted earlier this month. They are aged 92 and 87. The 87-year-old female resident received facial injuries from the alleged incident of assault. Police said officers from Ryde Police Area Command became aware of alleged assaults on two further residents earlier this year. ‘’The residents – two 95-year-old women – were allegedly slapped by a nursing assistant.’’ NSW Police stated in its statement.
Following inquiries on the alleged assault on 30 March 2022, police arrested a 25-year-old nursing assistant charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV); and three counts of common assault (DV).
The woman was refused bail and appeared at Hornsby Local Court today, where she was granted bail to reappear in court on 10 May 2022.
