NSW is opening the most awaited skilled work regional visa subclass 491 for the migration program year 2019-2020. NSW treasury is opening applications for state nomination on Monday 15 June 2020 to start regional migration through this subclass launched in November last year.
NSW has given applicants one week’s time to submit their application as NSW Treasury said they would stop accepting application at 5 pm Tuesday, 23 June 2020. ‘Applications will be assessed by the end of the financial year; Tuesday 30 June 2020’ NSW Treasury statement reads. To be eligible to apply for visa 491, you need to be nominated either by a state government or local government agency or sponsored by an eligible family member living in the designated regional area. NSW state decides whether to nominate you or not based on the requirements they set. And, you need to fulfill the requirements to be eligible to apply for nomination. The state said in a statement that only candidates who meet all criteria would be able to apply. State Treasury statement says, ‘If you do not meet these requirements, we strongly urge you not to apply as your application will be declined.’
To be eligible to apply for the NSW state nomination, you must meet the Department of Home Affair’s general visa requirements for this subclass along with this living and work in designated area for at least one year. To meet NSW regional nomination criteria, you need to have been working in the nominated occupation or closely related occupation for at least 12 months.
