In the latest statement, the education minister has suggested students research all of the courses that they are looking for before applying for any study offers.
As new study courses are about to begin, many students are about to choose the courses that they want to pursue. At this crucial time, the federal education minister has advised all students to choose their uni courses carefully to make sure that it will be worthy at the end. He has urged the prospective students to do their research on the courses properly.
Students in NSW and the ACT will begin receiving first-round offers from coming Friday with other states to provide these in the upcoming weeks. As per the latest 2017 national report on graduate outcomes, more than 30 percent students struggle to find an employment after finishing their studies. They struggle to find a good full-time work within four months of graduation. The survey further suggests that chances of having good employment also depends upon your course and university implying that employment prospects depend upon university courses.
The report finds that the graduates of more vocationally-oriented courses have better chances at landing a better job after graduation, as said by Education Minister Simon Birmingham. As per the records of last year, courses related to medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, teaching and business management give highest employment opportunities. Courses that are more of general ones are not as useful and these graduates take more time to find a job. Among the lowest employment rate, there were graduates of courses like creative arts, science, psychology, and communications.
Talking about the location factor, the report suggested that graduates from regional universities had a stronger employment rate as compared to those in the cities. Senator Birmingham said that accepting an offer can be a life-changing decision and so students must research a lot of the course and university before committing. He suggested that students may take help of the government’s quality indicators for learning and teaching (QILT) website. This can be a one-stop place for students who want to get better and comprehensive review about the university and course in question.
