The Australian government has announced new skilled occupation list for the year 2017/2018. The new skilled occupation list consists the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) and the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) formerly known as Skilled Occupations List (SOL) and Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL). The new MLTSSL has 178 occupations enlisted from which individuals can be nominated for general skilled migration to Australia. It is a prerequisite for aspirants of Australian permanent residency to nominate under an eligible occupation from MLTSSL.
Australia updates skilled occupation list on July each year based on Department of Education and Training as well as industry suggestions to maintain its population and economy smooth.
The list released by Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) will come into effect from 1st July 2017. Occupations on the lists are most important for international students regarding the selection of subjects for study in Australia.
