Australian government’s fresh round of scholarship is open for Nepalese Students. Australian Government funded scholarship ‘Australia Awards’ has opened to the student from Nepal as well as other South and West Asian countries to commence their study in Australia in 2019. The award includes living expenses, overseas student health cover as well as all tuition fees and returning airfare.
Australian Awards offers students fellowships and scholarships for formal education, research and professional development in Australia. This ‘Australia Awards’ comes as Australian Government’s initiative to develop the next generation of global leaders for development.
For this scholarship, applicant’s eligibility will be assessed based on their professional, personal qualities, academic competence for impact on development challenges in Nepal.
There is a language requirement for this Australia Awards scholarship. Applicant must have at least an IELTS (Academic) score average of 6.5 or above (with no individual band less than 6.0) or a paper-based TOEFL overall score of at least 580, with a minimum of 4.5 in the test of written English, or an Internet-based TOEFL score of at least 92, with a minimum of 21 in all subtests, or PTE Academic overall score of 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50.
Australian Government, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade encourage women, people with disability and people from traditionally marginalized groups and remote regions of Nepal to apply for this scholarship. ‘Australia Awards’ handbook mentions at least 50 percent of the place will be given to qualified women.
In Nepal, Australian assistance focuses on education, governance and micro-entrepreneurship development. Majority of Australian assistance is delivered through the Government of Nepal. [ads2]

Award Available
Australia Awards Scholarships are offered to applicants from Nepal for study at Master’s level in one of the priority sectors of study. The study can be undertaken by coursework or by research, or a combination of the two. However, the maximum duration that DFAT will support a Master’s degree program is for two years.

Australia Awards Benefits
Australia Awards Scholarships are offered for the minimum period necessary for the individual to complete the academic program specified by the Australian education institution, including any preparatory training. Scholarship recipients will generally receive the following:
- Return air travel
- A one-off establishment allowance on arrival
- Full tuition fees
- Contribution to living expenses
- Introductory academic program
- Overseas Student Health Cover for the duration of the Scholarship
- Supplementary academic support
- Fieldwork allowance – for research students and masters by coursework, which has a compulsory fieldwork component.
