12 Nepalese girls illegally working in a pub arrested in a ‘sex trafficking swoop’ in a tourist city of Kenya. The girls were arrested on Saturday, April 13, while police raid at an Indian bar at Nyali a beach city known for a tourist destination. Nepalese girls were entertaining customers in Rangeela grill and bar while the police raid unfolded. During the raid at morning, 4 am the owner of the club Asif Amirali Alibhai JeJetha with a Canadian passport also arrested at the scene. [ads1]
A tweet by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations-Kenya verifies the arrest of 12 Nepalese girls by the police and mentions their situation as ‘well & safe.

Media reports from Kenya indicate that these 12 Nepalese girls were illegally working at the club. The Pulse online writes, ‘their specific role at the club remains unclear amidst speculations that the women may have been strippers and dancers at the popular entertainment spot’.

The police operation was targeted to crackdown an international sex trafficking syndicate, a kind of human trafficking for purposes of sexual exploitation Kenyan media Daily Nation writes quoting police. About four months ago, 8 Pakistani girls were arrested in a similar police raid at Balle Balle club in Nairobi. On April 12, Mombasa police rescued 31 women aged between 18 to 22 years old in a house raid at Shelly Beach in Likoni also suspected to being processed by an unidentified agent for a Middle East employment bureau to provide cheap labor overseas.
