Child care and facilities are one of the services that one needs at utmost priority when arriving in Australia. The government has worked intensively on the same to make it fully inclusive with respect to the needs of the people opting for the same. In the view of the same to make child care services more inclusive of various needs and to make it more helpful, The Australian government has introduced a new Child Care Package which shall be effective from 2 July. The current childcare plan of Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate will be scrapped thereon and will be replaced by Child Care Subsidy.
Moving forward, the child care subsidy shall be paid directly to the child care services. The amount to be paid will be a factor of the type of childcare service opted for, the combined family income and the activity level of parents. In order to get the maximum subsidy, both of the parents shall be working for several days of the week such that the activities are done to qualify as something that would hinder in taking care of the child. These activities include studying, volunteering, looking for work or being on parental leave. The aim behind this is to make sure that the parents are actively participating in the society.
There shall be no cap on the Child Care Subsidy for families earning less than $185,710 per year. The current subsidy plan caps the rebate to a maximum of $7500 per child per year. This will help in taking care of their child in a better way and the parents will be better equipped to concentrate on their workplace.
